Artion, a multidisciplinary art and culture platform, was formally felicitated by AkshayaShakti Welfare Association (ASWA) on June 8 for its significant contribution to the record-setting public art initiative, PAINT4Ps: Planet, People, Progress & Peace. The recognition was extended through a certificate of honour presented to Artion’s Founder-Director, Narendra Lindait, who also participated in the event as one of the lead artists.

Earlier in April, the collaborative initiative had earned a coveted entry in the Asia Book of Records for achieving the fastest peace and sustainability-themed street painting created by a large group of citizens. Held along Upvan Lake Road in Thane on April 20, ahead of Earth Day, the initiative brought together over 80 participants from across communities to paint a 120-metre-long public artwork within 40 minutes.
The mural, which visually interpreted themes of environmental responsibility, social inclusion, innovation and peace, drew participation from school children, senior citizens, the trans voices, law enforcement officials, social workers, and medical professionals. Structured by a format conceptualised by ASWA and executed with Artion’s planning inputs, the artwork made space for each of the four Ps within a unified visual composition.
AkshayaShakti Welfare Association, the primary organiser of PAINT4Ps, acknowledged that the contribution of associate partner Artion was central to the conceptual direction, community mobilisation, and execution of the mural.Speaking at the felicitation event, ASWA representatives noted that the platform’s experience in connecting artists across geographies and disciplines helped bring coherence to the wide-reaching initiative within a limited timeframe.
“The event was designed to be open to all. Artion’s ability to translate abstract social goals into visual formats helped every participant feel involved without hierarchy or restriction,” said Mini Suboth, founder of ASWA. “Recognising their role through this certificate is an appreciation of how civic expression can be organised with both structure and spontaneity.”
Narendra Lindait, while receiving the certificate, shared that Artion aims to continue working at the intersection of public participation and creative outreach. “This honour is a reflection of what can happen when communities, artists and purpose meet. At Artion, our focus is to enable art that informs and includes. We thank ASWA for the opportunity to support something that genuinely connected people across roles, identities and perspectives.”

The event had also seen the involvement of other organisations including IWPG, which conducted on-ground dialogues about women’s role in peacebuilding; Namaste India International, which enabled international artist involvement; and Strokes Art Studio, which coordinated layout and on-site visuals. While the Asia Book of Records conferred official recognition shortly after the event in April, the felicitation ceremony organised by ASWA served to acknowledge the contributions of on-ground participants and core collaborators who played a pivotal role in its execution.

The Asia Book of Records formally acknowledged all artist-driven efforts executed under ASWA’s strategic outline, with Artion as an equal partner in the initiative. During the felicitation, certificates were jointly conferred, highlighting the shared contribution and the civic-artistic impact of the collaboration.

AkshayaShakti Welfare Association confirmed that certificates were presented to all artists who participated and contributed to the initiative’s successful Asia Book of Records recognition. These included individuals who painted, facilitated outreach, or enabled visual and logistical execution.
The mural had been streamed live across social platforms and continues to gain attention in civic, educational and developmental networks for its potential as a replicable format for public engagement. Discussions are ongoing to share the initiative’s planning framework with institutions across cities interested in similar formats of action-oriented public art.
PAINT4Ps was conceived as a public effort to connect purpose with creative participation. With artists, citizens, and facilitators coming together on a single platform, the event presented a working model for socially responsive engagement through accessible visual formats.
As Earth Day came to a close, the artwork continued to reflect the shared direction, spirit, and participation that shaped it.
