Thane, Maharashtra – In a powerful expression of hope and harmony, over 80 individuals from diverse walks of life will unite ahead of Earth Day 2025 to paint a 120-meter-long artwork on the streets of Thane — all within 40 minutes. The initiative, titled PAINT4Ps: Planet, People, Progress & Peace – The Countdown to 2030, is expected to set an Asia Book of Records title for the largest peace-themed mural created by citizens in the shortest time.
The event will take place on April 20, 2025, along the scenic Upvan Lake Road in Thane (W). It is being spearheaded by Mumbai-based non-profit AkshayaShakti Welfare Association (ASWA), known for weaving art with activism for over a decade.

One Mural. Four Pillars. A Decade of Urgency.

At its heart, PAINT4Ps is a call for unity. As the world races toward the 2030 deadline for the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), the mural aims to capture four critical themes — Planet, People, Progress, and Peace — in vibrant, visual form.
“This is more than a painting event. It’s a collective voice for the future we want,” says Mini Suboth, artist and founder of AkshayaShakti. “Each brushstroke will represent a shared dream of sustainability, inclusivity, and global peace.”
The artwork will be created using eco-friendly materials, with participation from schoolchildren, senior citizens, trans persons, doctors, police officers, students, and community leaders — symbolizing how every individual, regardless of identity, plays a part in shaping a better tomorrow

Art for Change — Powered by Collaboration

AkshayaShakti’s PAINT4Ps is being hosted in association with global and local partners, including: IWPG, a global network advocating for women-led peace initiatives, will facilitate panel discussions and grassroots participation, amplifying the role of women in peacebuilding. Strokes Art Studio, known for curating large-scale creative efforts, will guide participants with structured workshops, ensuring the collaborative mural reflects artistic cohesion and vision. Namaste India International, a cultural diplomacy platform, will draw international attention to the initiative, inviting global artists and cultural leaders to participate, both in person and virtually. Artion, a hybrid platform for visual and performing arts, will oversee the creative direction of the mural, helping artists across generations and disciplines to co-create with social impact.Speaking about her latest publication, Guru Bhavana Lele remarked, “This book is designed for anyone who admires Kathak—whether a beginner or someone advancing their skills. It presents Kathak’s timeless appeal while staying true to its traditional roots.”
This initiative draws inspiration from the 2017 painting by students in Chhattisgarh — one of the largest of its kind at over 21,000 sq. ft. Paint4Ps takes that spark forward, bringing more voices, more stories, and more participation to the table.
AkshayaShakti Welfare Association has been active since 2010 and works across health, education, and welfare initiatives. The group has spearheaded several initiatives focused on supporting children with cancer, empowering women, integrating transgender communities, providing youth skill development, offering educational tools for students, and assisting old age homes through both developmental and outreach efforts.
The painting will use eco-friendly materials as a nod to Earth Day and is not intended to be preserved. Organizers said the focus is on the act of participation, shared expression, and drawing attention to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) through inclusive collaboration.
Paint4Ps is part of a wider initiative that connects artistic communication with civic awareness. It affirms the idea that meaningful participation can start with a simple invitation and a shared purpose—where each contribution supports the vision of a more sustainable and peaceful world. In line with an Asia Book of Records attempt, the event aims to deepen the impact of the initiative by bringing together diverse voices and perspectives.
The event begins at 8:00 AM and is open for public viewing
